With winter here and the holidays on the way, let’s play and create. We are in the spirit of the holidays, and I hope you are too! We love to create and paint, but not always using a traditional paint brush. Why not make an adorable Christmas tree, by using your little ones feet. Create a Footprint Christmas Tree this year. Add a few extra embellishments and you’ve got yourself a fun piece of winter artwork for your kids to enjoy, as such a wonderful keepsake too.

I’m lucky my son loves creating using paintbrushes and of course our hands and feet, so this craft is perfect if you’re not scared to get your feet a little dirty… well with paint at least. We used baby wipes to wipe my son’s feet dry. You could also use a wet paper towel to clean your munchkins feet afterwards.

You could use this fun painting as a great piece of holiday artwork, or use as a crafty card from the kids and send to a long distance family member, or even  give this for a teacher gift. We plan to use ours as a card for grandma this year. It’s a great keepsake. Something special from the kids, who doesn’t love a gift like this right?!

Are you ready to create your Footprint Christmas Tree? Well let’s get started.

Here’s What you Need

White Paper

Green Paint

Wrapping Paper (scraps)

Glue

Scissors

Mini Pom Poms (assorted colors)

Buttons (assorted colors)

Sequins

Star Sticker, if you don’t have that you can use a yellow piece of paper cut into a star shape.

Let’s Get Started:

To create your Footprint Christmas Tree, start by placing your white piece of paper down on the floor, then paint your child’s foot with your snazzy green paint.

Press their foot into the center of your paper, to leave a footprint. Once you’re done flip your paper around so the toes are facing towards the bottom.

Grab some scraps of assorted wrapping paper, and cut squares of different sizes that resemble gift boxes. To make the boxes fit right up to the bottom of the tree, you can always measure the space between the toes and the bottom of the paper, before cutting into squares. Feel free to cut assorted box sizes, some small, wide, long, big - you name it. It’s a great way to let the kids be creative.

Glue the wrapping paper squares down onto your paper.

Add a mini pom pom to each wrapping paper gift box under the tree. This can be used as the look of a bow on top of each gift.

Now you’re ready to decorate your tree!!!!! Dab glue onto buttons, mini pom poms, sequins and place onto the footprint tree, to look like ornaments in fun places on your tree.

Last you can glue on a star on the very top of your footprint tree and you’re all set!

This really is a lot of fun to create this season. So, if you’re little ones are up for getting their feet a little wet this year, this footprint tree makes the perfect craft and a wonderful keepsake too.
