These are some fun DIY ideas I hope you enjoy

I’m always inspired by other posts I see where people re-use old furniture, even more so, when it’s thrift store furniture revamped and then updated. So I went on a mission to make my very own re-purposed chair, on a budget of course! I lucked out and found a $5.00 chair at a local thrift store, score! I knew what desk I wanted this chair to match with, it was for my daughter. I must’ve watched a few tutorials first, but realized it’s actually very easy to DIY.

First I bought Rust-Oleum Flat White Spray Paint. I chose this because it includes the primer right inside the paint (less time I’d have to spend priming).

Next I headed to our local fabric store and found some very whimsical fun fabric to use for re-covering the cushion. The rest of the supplies I had on hand in the garage, luckily.

I found a spot outside knowing the fumes from the spray paint would be toxic and grabbed what I needed to make my $10 DIY chair.

Supplies Needed:

1 - Chair

1 - Can of Rust-Oleum Paint+Primer (in color of your choice)

1 - Sanding sponge

1 - Dry cloth

Cut Fabric (I used a 22″ x 22″ piece) for my cushion

1 - Staple gun

1- Screw driver

Start by flipping your chair upside down and unscrewing the seat cushion. Fully remove the cushion and set aside.

Now measure your fabric against your seat cushion, cut down to size if needed.

Now get your staple gun and staple your fabric down tightly around each corner, pressing firmly so you have no pockets of air. Now set aside your newly re-upholstered cushion.

Next step is to sand your chair. I used a small sanding sponge from Home Depot. If you’re unsure what type to purchase ask in the paint department based on what type of wood you are re-finishing. They are very helpful. This cost $2.00. Once you have sanded the whole chair wipe it with a dry cloth. This removes any excess residue.

Now the fun part, shake your Paint+Primer before using. Start spraying light coats of paint through your chair, let dry. Repeat this step until you get the color desired. Took me 3 coats total. Let your chair dry overnight. When your chair is completely dry go ahead and screw your seat cushion back on.
