I teach Arts to my daughters class once a month and this month we made Butterfly Mosaics made out of tissue paper. Teaching 25 first graders, I always look for something that’s easiest enough, but also where they can use their imagination and creativity to make a masterpiece. This Butterfly Mosaic was perfect!
Supplies:
11×14 white craft paper
Pencil
Oil Pastel (crayon can be used also)
Tissue Paper (assorted colors), pre-cut into small squares
Glue
Instructions:
Before starting - cut assorted tissue paper into small square sized pieces (enough to cover the whole butterfly).
1) Using the pencil draw an oval for center of the body.
2) Draw a circle for the head.
3) Draw antennas on top of head.
4) Draw upper right wing and lower right wing. Repeat this step for left side of butterfly.
5) Using oil pastel or crayon, trace outline of the butterfly to frame the body.
6) Spread glue inside each wing, cover with assorted colors of tissue papers. Continue spreading glue throughout the wings, body, and head and then add your tissue paper until completely covered. Now you have a beautiful Butterfly Mosaic made of tissue paper.
