Mothers Day Online Gift Ideas

Do you love a good deal? Of course, you do! Who doesn’t love getting 2 for 1 or $50 worth of merchandise for the 1/2 the cost! Since Mothers Day is right around the corner I’ve been on the hunt for some good deals that are unique and can be used whenever the recipient wants to use it. My mind immediately thought, Groupon!!! Most cities have some-kind of deal related website, but my favorite happens to be Groupon.

 I’ve put together a list of 10 Mothers Day Gift Ideas, using online discount sites, or shall I say, for the budget minded, like myself.

Gift Card for Groupon (or your local savings website) - Great in any denomination and can be used on what your Mother wants to buy.

Spa Day - I see so many of these deals for really, really, good discounts. What mom wouldn’t want to be treated for a Spa Day?! Right.

Personalized Photo Mug - This is one of my fav’s, I’m a sucker for anything photo related + a mug for my coffee-fix = a happy mama!

Monogram Necklace - This would be for the bling minded moms. Every woman enjoys some jewelry. Why not get a Monogram Necklace deal.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries - I also see these oh-so sweet deals a lot too. Usually these are shipped in a pretty little box and you can’t go wrong buying this one.

Massage - This is similar to spa day, but what if your special someone would only prefer getting a relaxing massage, then this is the perfect deal.

Monthly Wine Subscription - I’ve never bought this one before, but I have friends that swear by it. Usually they ship 1 or 2 bottles every so often for a fixed amount of time. Perfect gift for so many moms out there.

Photobook - These deals are great, although they do take a little more planning than some of the others, but if you have an idea of what pictures she’d enjoy - just download and usually these photo programs easily guide you through making your first photo book. Love, a good photo book with memories to share forever!

Cooking, Art, or Photography Class - This is a great option for moms who have a passion for something but wouldn’t typically splurge on this for themselves. Plus, the kids would love a few new meals, hung artwork, or being a model for mom for the camera!

Flowers - This is probably the easiest and what I’d consider the old stand-by, but this can’t go under-looked because flowers are so special and appreciated. You can purchase the flowers right online and have them shipped directly to mom.

I hope you find these online deals as an inspiration, especially if you’re unsure what to buy mom this year. You can’t go wrong with online deals that your city offers. They offer great discounts and quality products too!

Cucumber Smoothie

It’s Smoothie Saturday

Think Green Machine… If so, this is your smoothie! Today, for Smoothie Saturday I’m sharing a tasteful Cucumber Smoothie recipe, also known as my Cucumber Craze Smoothie. This Cucumber Smoothie is refreshing, and crisp.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Cucumber Smoothie Ingredients:

1/2 Cup of Water

1/2 Cucumber, peeled and sliced

1 Cup of Spinach

1 Cup of Frozen Strawberries

1/2 Banana, peeled and sliced

Add all ingredients into your blender starting with the top ingredient first. Mix well, and you’ve got yourself a refreshing and crisp Cucumber Smoothie.

Makes 1 full serving.

If a green smoothie makes you run for the woods, think again… try my smoothie and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Ice Experiment for Kids

We always have so many small toys hidden around the house, or not so hidden too. Why not use these small toys and items and have an ice experiment. First I had the kids use large sandwich bags and walk through the house filling the bags up with: legos, yarn, balls, game pieces, anything small that could be used for our ice experiment. Part of the fun is seeing the kids use their imagination and making their project unique.

These are the items the kids ended up choosing to add into the ice experiment.

My daughter chose letter pieces for crafts, yarn, bracelets, game pieces, and some pom-poms.

My son chose lots of legos, some pom-poms.. and some more lego pieces!

Next, I filled each bowl with water almost to the top.

Once your bowl is filled, you are ready to place into the freezer for 24 hours.

This was exciting for the kids, they knew the next time they’d look at their bowls, all their fun pieces would be frozen.

After 24 hours, the kids and I anxiously opened the freezer and pulled out our bowls full of frozen treats.

Next, we left our bowl on the counter inside the house for at least 15 minutes (I set a timer to remind myself). This gives the ice just enough time to loosen up, but not enough to melt it. Then just flip your bowl over and the ice falls right out.

I used play-doh small plastic knives and utensils to start excavating the ice. But you could use toy hammers, or plastic toy screw drivers too. Anything safe for the kids but sturdy. This was the kids favorite part. After about 10 minutes my son saw the ice really break apart. He kept picking at the ice, then another 10 minutes he had the whole block of ice excavated.

The kids were so excited to break the ice that we did it again. Put the toys back into the bowls, added water, and froze.

Next time we may even add some food coloring into the water before freezing it!

This is a great activity to keep the kids busy on a summer afternoon.

Let’s Make Homemade Peanut Butter

So excited to use my new Vitamix! So many possibilities and since I absolutely LOVE smoothies, the Vitamix is my new best friend. The Vitamix is definitely one of the newest gadgets in my kitchen that I have a tad obsession with. This super easy recipe is sure to be a big hit in any home.

I know my kids are all smiles with this Homemade Peanut Butter Recipe.

Ingredients:

2 cups salted peanuts

1 cup unsalted roasted peanuts

Instructions:

Place the peanuts into the Vitamix and tightly secure the lid. Select the low speed. Turn on Vitamix and switch to High speed. Use the tamper to press all the peanuts into the blades. After 1 minute, the butter will flow through the machine blades. Stop the Vitamix once you hear the motor low down. You have officially made your first Homemade Peanut Butter supply.

This recipe makes 1 1/2 cups of Homemade Peanut Butter.

Here are the ingredients measured and ready to be blended. 2 cups salted peanuts & 1 cup unsalted roasted peanuts

We plan to make some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some cookies with our homemade peanut butter. If you have a Vitamix machine and make other recipes, I’d love hear what recipe you use.

Easy Easter Cupcakes

This year we made these Easy Easter Cupcakes, peep style! Something sweet and easy. Peeps Easter Cupcakes were the way to go. Since I’m kind of on a roll with Peeps this year, why not make cupcakes using them too!

Easy Easter Cupcakes

 

Here’s What you Need

 

Ingredients:

Cake Mix + Ingredients to make cake mix (I used strawberry flavor)

Cupcake Baking Cups (24)

Cupcake Pan

Spray Frosting (with attachments)

Peeps Bunnies

Candy Robin Eggs

Directions:

Prepare the cake mix based on the package directions. Line your cupcake pan with baking cups. Fill baking cups 2/3 full with mix. Bake these Easy Easter Cupcakes according to box directions and time. Let cool. Once cooled, begin the fun part…. Decorating! My kids loved this part, it was hard to keep them from eating all the candy robin eggs (but somehow the cupcakes survived)!

Start with frosting your cupcake to make it look like grass or a cute ground cover. Next, cut the bottom off the Peep Bunnies, and place the bunny on top of icing. Finally, decorate with robin eggs.

You now have Easy Easter Cupcakes + Delicious too!

At our house Easter morning starts off with the kids looking for their baskets the Easter Bunny left for them. Then, we usually have an egg hunt, and eat way too much food. I’m so thankful to have this time with my kids. They enjoy these moments so very much, I’m happy to see the excitement through their eyes.

Peeps Kabob Snacks

Peeps Kabob Snack for Easter this Year

 I am usually not a big fan of eating Peeps. But they are SO cute to use for Easter snacks, parties, and food decorating, that once I saw this idea over at Our Three Peas . I knew I needed to try making some Peeps Kabob Snacks for my sons preschool party.  

I used Peeps Bunnies, Peeps Chicks, Large Marshamallows, Mini-Marshmallows, Blueberries and Strawberries. You could add other fruits that your child enjoys too. The Peeps Kabob Snacks are so cute and simple to make for any Easter party.
